War Stories

By Beacon Staff

In the interest of promoting myself and my family at every possible opportunity, I just want to note that my grandfather, Walter Morgan, who fought to liberate France during World War II, was interviewed as part of the Lehigh Valley (Pennsylvania) Veterans History Project. One of the local news stations for Allentown, Penn., did a nice story on the project, with some clips of my grandfather describing his time as an Army sergeant in the infantry, for which he received a Purple Heart. Unfortunately, I can’t embed the video, but you can watch the story on WFMZ’s website here. He’s the handsome, distinguished Irishman whose hairline I am inheriting. If you have a few minutes, it’s worth checking out. The stories these men tell are endlessly fascinating.
