Local Christian Schools Bring Home Basketball Titles

By Beacon Staff

I’m a little late on this, but I’d like to say congratulations to Stillwater Christian and Flathead Valley Home School for winning Montana Christian Athletic Association state basketball championships last week. The Stillwater Christian girls defeated Helena Christian 44-33 on Feb. 19, while the FVHS boys beat Stillwater Christian 61-58 in the title game.

In leading the Cougars to the title, Morgan Paolini was named MVP of the girls tournament. She scored 23 of her Stillwater Christian’s 44 points in the championship. For boys, FVHS’s Jace Voigtlander won tournament MVP.

It’s championship season for winter basketball and it’s nice to see a couple of local teams setting the tone with titles. Hopefully, some of their public school counterparts like Bigfork, Columbia Falls and Glacier, all of whom have teams ranked high in their respective leagues, can follow suit with titles of their own.
