Governor’s Request to Throw Out Complaint Rejected

By Beacon Staff

HELENA – The Montana commissioner of political practices has denied a request from the governor to throw out an ethics complaint against him.

The order denying Gov. Brian Schweitzer’s motion was issued by Commissioner Jennifer Hensley last week.

The complaint comes from the Montana Republican Party over the governor’s appearance in a public service radio advertisement during his 2008 campaign.

The governor’s spokeswoman said in a statement Wednesday the governor did nothing wrong and he will appeal the decision to make sure the commissioner isn’t the final decision maker in the matter.
