By Beacon Staff

MISSOULA – Two days after winning the Big Sky Conference basketball championship, the UM women’s team has learned who its next opponent will be — UCLA in the opening round of the NCAA tournament in Spokane, Wash.

The Missoulian reports players and coaches gathered at a sports bar Monday night for the NCAA Selection Show and learned the team is a No. 14 seed in the tournament. Seventh-ranked UCLA (27-4) is a No. 3 seed.

Several Lady Griz also were excited the game will be played close to home and not against second-ranked Stanford, as ESPN had projected.

UM (18-14) will face UCLA on Saturday at 4:40 p.m. MDT. All-session tickets for games at Gonzaga’s 6,000-seat arena are on sale through Gonzaga’s website, GoZags.com. Single-session tickets go on sale Wednesday at 11 a.m.
