Kalispell Man Faces Charges After Pedestrian Hit

By Beacon Staff

A 25-year-old Kalispell man faces charges of negligent vehicular assault and driving under the influence after a man was struck by an SUV in the parking lot of an apartment building, suffering a fractured skull, ruptured spleen and several broken ribs.

The Daily Inter Lake reports Michael Scherrer was arrested Friday morning after officers found Eric Appl injured in the parking lot at about 9:30 a.m.

A witness told officers he saw Scherrer’s SUV traveling at about 45 miles per hour, then heard a thud and turned to see Appl “flying through the air.”

Kalispell Police Detective Scott Warnell said Tuesday that officers are investigating whether the collision was intentional. Scherrer had called 911 earlier to report that Appl assaulted him and took $300. Scherrer denied intentionally hitting Appl.
