Ronan Man Charged With Distributing Drugs Near School

By Beacon Staff

POLSON – A 56-year-old Ronan man has been charged with providing teenage girls with drugs, alcohol and cigarettes during their school lunch breaks.

KERR-AM reports Leonard Irvine pleaded not guilty Wednesday to three counts of criminal distribution of dangerous drugs on or near school property.

The investigation began when the school resource officer started getting complaints from concerned parents. A search of Irvine’s house on March 4 turned up prescription drugs, hypodermic needles and spoons with white residue on them.

Court records say Irvine told investigators that he allowed three girls to snort crushed Lortabs and that he knew the girls he was providing drugs, alcohol and cigarettes to were under the age of 18.

District Judge C.B. McNeil set Irvine’s bond at $500,000 and scheduled a trial for Aug. 15.
