MISSOULA –A Whitefish man is being detained after authorities say he led Flathead County sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed chase on U.S. Highway 93
The Missoulian reports Friday’s chase reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour and ended at the southern edge of Kalispell when spike strips on the road caused the man to drive the pickup truck over an embankment.
The newspaper reports the man tried to flee on foot but deputies used a Taser to stop him.
Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry says 26-year-old Abram Marcus Schilling fled in the truck after authorities pulled him over to question him about an investigation by the Montana Department of Criminal Investigations and the Northwest Drug Task Force.
Schilling is being held in the Flathead County Detention Center
