BUTTE – NorthWestern Energy says the size of a central Montana wind project it plans to buy is increasing from 25 megawatts to 40 megawatts.
The company on Tuesday said it has signed an agreement to purchase the Spion Kop Wind Project near Geyser in Judith Basin County for $77.88 million, as long as the Public Service Commission will allow NorthWestern to include the electricity it generates in its rate base.
NorthWestern officials say the plant could be on line by the end of 2012.
