PLACES: Kalispell Farmers’ Market

By Beacon Staff

The extended cool weather has put the growing season behind by a few weeks, but there are still plenty of opportunities to browse fantastic goods at the Kalispell Farmers’ Market.

The open-air market, which is located on the western side of Kalispell Center Mall’s parking lot, recently kicked off its 37th season.

The farmers’ market is one of the oldest in the state and includes everything from baked goods, jams and jellies, meats and eggs, annual and perennial flowers and native plants and trees to arts and crafts, handmade jewelry, pottery, iron and wood works, woven rugs, lotions, soaps, knitted and crocheted accessories, photographs and cards.

The number of booths ebbs and flows as the production season heats up – making it the perfect place to grab a cup of coffee and stroll in the morning sun while picking through locally grown fruits and vegetables of all varieties as well as baked goods. It’s a great way to support local artisans, businesses and growers.

The market is open each Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. now through October.

How to get there: The Kalispell Farmers’ Market is located at the corner of Center Street and Fifth Avenue West. From downtown Kalispell, turn west on Center and keep an eye out for the white tents in the mall parking lot.
