Whitefish High School Announces New Volleyball Coach

By Beacon Staff

Whitefish High School has announced that Sarah Scott will replace Jackie Fuller as head volleyball coach. Fuller resigned in April after a decorated career in which she led Whitefish to a 324-102 record, 13 state tournament appearances and five state championships in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006. She is still the school’s activities director.

Scott has coached Whitefish’s junior varsity team the past two years. According to a press release from the school, she grew up in Coeur d’Alene and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 2000. She played volleyball for Westmont College in Santa Barbara, participating in two national tournaments.

After graduating in 2004 with a B.A. in sociology, Scott moved to Butte and completed her teaching certification at Montana Western. While in Butte, she coached the freshman volleyball team at Butte High School. She moved to Whitefish three years ago to teach at Whitefish High School.

“Scott has high expectations for the team,” the press release states, “and is very excited for the opportunity to work with the strong and committed group of girls returning next year.”
