International Trade Group Meeting in Big Sky

HELENA – An international trade group is meeting this week in Big Sky.

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation is made up of more than 20 countries and aims to improve trade and spur growth. The group is meeting in Big Sky to hold a trade ministers’ meeting and to discuss issues for smaller businesses.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke will be speaking, as will U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk. Dozens of Montana companies, representing mining, agriculture, manufacturing and other areas, will be taking part.

Wednesday’s events include a discussion regarding economic development on the state’s Indian reservations and a welcoming reception for cabinet level officials from the countries.
