State Softball Brackets With New Location for B/C Tourney

By Beacon Staff

The Class B/C state softball tournament has been moved from Glasgow to Great Falls because of water saturation at the Glasgow fields and the threat of additional moisture from rain over the weekend. The tourney will be held at the Multi-Sport Complex in Great Falls on May 26-28, according to the Montana High School Association.

The Class AA and A tournaments have not been changed. The Class A tourney is scheduled for May 26-28 in Miles City and the AA tourney is in Billings on May 26-28.

Polson is trying to defend its Class A title and win its sixth championship since 2001. The Pirates have a first-round bye as the No. 1 seed from Northwestern A. Columbia Falls, the No. 2 seed from the conference, faces Corvallis at 10 a.m. Thursday. Libby, the conference’s third seed, plays Laurel at noon Thursday.

In Class AA, Glacier secured the west’s third seed and plays Butte at 2 p.m. Thursday. A different Class AA team has won the title in each of the past five years, with Billings West winning it all last year.

Thompson Falls/Noxon, last year’s Class B/C champ, failed to make the tournament this spring. Columbus/Absarokee/Park City, the team that won the previous three B/C titles before last year, is the Eastern No. 2 seed and plays Missoula Loyola Sacred Heart at 4 p.m. Thursday.
