Bigfork Woman Pleaded Guilty to Casino Robbery

By Beacon Staff

KALISPELL – An 18-year-old Bigfork woman has pleaded guilty to her role in robbing a Columbia Falls casino of $4,800 in November.

Katelynn Hayes admitted that she, her brother, her boyfriend and a friend who worked at the casino conspired to rob the Glacier Gold Casino.

Hayes says the robbery was conceived by her 16-year-old boyfriend and she is willing to testify against the others.

All three have pleaded not guilty to felony charges of accountability to theft. But the casino employee, Darah Hughes, and Hayes’ brother, Darren Hayes, are expected to change their pleas at hearings scheduled for June 30.

The Flathead County Attorney’s Office will recommend a three-year deferred sentence for Katelynn Hayes.

Her sentencing is scheduled for July 18.
