Authorities say one man is dead and another is in critical condition after a glider crashed near the Ferndale Airfield in northwestern Montana.
Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry says emergency responders were called to the crash in a home’s front yard just south of the airfield’s runway at about 5 p.m. Friday. He says the pilot of the plane towing the glider told investigators the men were planning a 180-degree maneuver after disconnecting.
A man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene, while another man about the same age was hospitalized with a head injury and bone fractures.
Curry says both men had out-of-state identification, but it appears they were summer residents of the area. Their names have not been released.
