Terry Nelson, the longtime head golf coach at Whitefish High School, was inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches Association’s hall of fame at the organization’s annual meeting in late June in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Nelson became the 20th Montanan to receive the honor, according to the Montana High School Association. Since taking over the program in 1986, Nelson has won 15 state girls titles and eight boys titles, according the MHSA. He has been named national golf coach of the year on multiple occasions.

When next season begins in the fall, Nelson will be shooting for his third boys title in four years, led by senior and Washington State University recruit Reed Platke.
