Located just three miles south of town, Foys is the closest lake to Kalispell. The lake is 235 acres in surface area with the shoreline spanning three and a half miles and is known for its clear, blue waters.
The lake is a great place for summer recreation, offering the public swimming, fishing and boating. There is a public beach that is great for picnicking or taking in some sun. There is also a roped off swimming area that keeps swimmers separated from boaters and the shallow waters allow for warmer swimming compared to deeper lakes.
If fishing’s your thing, your best bet is to get to the lake early in the morning or at dusk due to the high volume of water skiers and tubers during the day. Trout are planted regularly, so chances are good you will catch plenty of fish.
There is a public boat launch on the west side of the lake that can get pretty busy on a hot summer day. The lake’s large surface area allows ample room for skiing and tubing.
How to get there: Take U.S. Highway 2 West out of downtown Kalispell and turn left at North Meridian Road. At the intersection of Meridian and Seventh Street West veer to the west and remain on Foys Lake Road. Foys Lake will be on your right.
