Flathead County will sell $800,000 in municipal bonds to boost the Flathead 911 Emergency Communication Center’s cash reserves.
County finance director Sandy Carlson said the bonds for sale are part of the original $6.9 million in bonds that voters authorized to fund the project. Since the bids for the project came in at $6.1 million, $800,000 in bonds remained unsold.
However, during the project, several budget items, including communications and computer equipment, overran their assigned costs, Carlson said. The 911 Center used its reserve funds to pay off the costs and finish the project, she said.
The $800,000 bond sale will replenish the reserve funds for the future, Carlson said.
The sale takes place on Aug. 2, and the Flathead County commissioners will award the bid for the bonds at 10:30 a.m. The county expects to see proceeds from the bond sale by Aug. 18, Carlson said.
