Feds Announce $2.9M in Montana Highway Projects

HELENA – The federal government has announced it will spend $2.9 million on six highway-related projects in Montana.

The biggest project is $1.6 million for completion of a transit maintenance facility at Fort Belknap Indian Reservation. The Blackfeet interpretive turnout on U.S. Highway 89 will receive nearly $650,000 and Salish Kootenai College will get $350,000 to train students for careers in highway construction.

Other projects include a bridge for pedestrians and bicyclists in Billings, studying a non-motorized trail between Missoula and Lola and boosting state program to help disadvantaged businesses compete for federal contracts.

The U.S. Transportation Department announced the funding on Wednesday.
