FWP: Grizzly Captured Near Coram Relocated

WEST YELLOWSTONE – Wildlife officials say they have captured a 3-year-old male grizzly bear that had become habituated to dog food and human food near Coram in northwestern Montana.

Tim Manley, a grizzly bear management specialist with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, says the bear was captured late last week a few hundred yards from U.S. Highway 2 and was transported Tuesday to the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone. The center is run by a nonprofit organization that hosts public visitors and groups.

Manley says the grizzly had been spotted numerous times in Coram during the day over a weeklong period. The bear had gotten into dog food at two homes and picked up food from the back of a pickup truck.

The bruin had been captured and relocated before.
