Columbia Falls Man Arrested After Woman Threatened with Machete

By Beacon Staff

A 51-year-old man faces an aggravated assault charge after a waitress at a Columbia Falls restaurant was threatened with a machete.

Carlos Seeley of Columbia Falls also faces a charge of resisting arrest.

Officers were called Saturday afternoon after a man walked into the Nite Owl restaurant with a machete and a buck knife and said he was “taking over the place.”

Columbia Falls Police Chief David Perry says the man refused to drop the weapons and an officer used a stun gun without effect. The officer grabbed the hand in which the man was holding the knife. Police say he swung the machete toward the officer. The officer struck the suspect in the head with a pistol, which discharged. The bullet hit a wall.
