Brewery Shows Off Homemade Trophy

By Beacon Staff

Here’s a follow-up on the Great American Beer Festival:

At seven feet tall, The Ultimate Beer Fan Trophy is pretty hard to miss sitting in the corner of the second floor taproom at the Great Northern Brewing Company in Whitefish.

The trophy was made by the local brewer earlier this month for the Great American Beer Festival held in Denver. While in Denver the trophy, which doubles as a keg tap and iPod stereo, was awarded to the biggest beer fan in attendance. Below the trophy’s title is inscribed “your love for beer exceeds the size of any trophy, but we tried.”

Jessica Lucey, who does marketing for the brewery, said the trophy will now call the taproom home, while a smaller, more mobile version will be sent to the winner back in Colorado. Lucey said they hope to continue awarding the trophy to beer fans at future events and likened it to NHL’s Stanley Cup, all be it for drinking.

“This was us giving back to beer fans at the Great American Beer Festival,” Lucey said. “They make our job possible.”
