By Beacon Staff

The body of a 47-year-old Kalispell woman was found in an abandoned building west of town on Oct. 30.

According to a statement from the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a report of a deceased person on Oct. 30 at 11:19 a.m. Responding deputies located the body and identified the deceased as Cynthia Buck. Her body was found at the site of the old O’Neil Lumber mill area.

Buck was from Kalispell but was recently homeless, the press release said, and appeared to have been living in one of the abandoned buildings on the former mill’s site.

The manner and cause of death remains under investigation, though the press release states that no evidence of foul play has been found. The body was transported to the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula for an autopsy.

Sheriff Chuck Curry said investigators are still waiting on toxicology reports.
