Bobcats Go Into Cat-Griz Ranked No. 1

By Beacon Staff

Montana State goes into the annual Cat-Griz football rivalry as the top-ranked team in the Football Championship Subdivision.

The Bobcats are ranked first in both The Sports Network and the FCS coaches polls released Monday after previous No. 1 North Dakota State lost over the weekend.

Montana is ranked seventh in both polls.

The Cat-Griz game kicks off at 12:07 p.m. Saturday at Bobcat Stadium in Bozeman.

School officials say the Bobcats haven’t been ranked first during the regular season since 1978. They were ranked as high as second in 1984 when they went on to win the NCAA Division I-AA national championship.
