Game Wardens Investigating Bigfork Deer Poaching

By Beacon Staff

Local officials with the Fish, Wildlife & Parks are seeking information on a deer poaching that took place in Bigfork on Thursday night.

The FWP said two individuals driving the cart path on Eagle Bend golf course off Chapman Hills Road fired several shots and killed a whitetail buck on the Ridge Estates subdivision. The individuals left the whitetail buck and drove out Chapman Hills Road.

Residents reported the incident to the sheriff’s office and FWP officials responded. Witnesses described the vehicle as a small four-door dark brown or gray SUV, similar to a minivan in shape with rack on top.

Anyone with information should call 1-800-847-6668 or contact game warden sergeant Jon Obst at 270-7748.
