The fifth-ranked Montana Grizzlies will play their Football Championship Subdivision semifinal against top-ranked Sam Houston State this Friday.
The game in Huntsville, Texas will be on ESPN.
Sam Houston State is 13-0 and beat Montana State 49-13 Saturday morning in Huntsville. It’s the second time the Bearkats have met the Grizzlies in the FCS semifinals – the first time was in 2004, when they came to Missoula and lost 34-13 to the Grizzlies.
This will be just the fourth road semifinal game for the Griz, who lost at Georgia Southern (45-15) in 1989 and at Youngstown State (28-9) in 1994, but won at unbeaten James Madison 35-27 in 2008.
The winner of Friday’s game advances to the NCAA Division I Football Championship in January.
