Wreaths Taken from Veterans’ Graves to be Replaced

A member of the U.S. Civil Air Patrol says an effort is under way to replace wreaths stolen from veterans’ graves in northwestern Montana.

Senior squadron member Dale Rodwick says support to replace the wreaths has come from the community and elsewhere, after news got out of the theft of about 200 wreaths from a cemetery north of Kalispell.

The Flathead Composite Squadron MT053 of the U.S. Civil Air Patrol placed 500 wreaths on the graves on Dec. 10 as part of a national Wreaths Across America program to honor fallen veterans. Rodwick says the wreaths started disappearing three days later.

The Worcester Wreath Co. in Maine planned to ship out at least 100 wreaths on Friday. Rodwick says a re-dedication ceremony is planned sometime this week.
