Gas Prices Fall Under $3 in Many Montana Cities

HELENA – Gasoline prices have dipped below $3 a gallon at stations in many Montana cities, while AAA Montana reports the statewide average price of a gallon of regular unleaded was $3.09.

Average gas prices fell 3.1 cents per gallon from Thursday to Friday. The average price of diesel fuel was $3.88 on Friday.

AAA reported the average gasoline price was $3.01 in Great Falls, $3.03 in Missoula and $3.09 in Billings. Many stations in Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls, Helena and Missoula were selling gas for $2.98 or $2.99 a gallon on Friday.

AAA Montana spokeswoman Tara Hanley says the last time the statewide average gasoline price fell below $3 per gallon was February 2011.

Nationally, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded was $3.27 while diesel was $3.82.
