Krueger Announces County Commission Candidacy

By Beacon Staff

Another Flathead Valley resident threw his hat into the political ring this week, adding a candidate to the race for the Flathead County Commission District 3 seat.

Gary Krueger, 53, will run for the seat as a Republican. Commissioner Dale Lauman currently holds the position, but he will not seek re-election in 2012.

In a statement, Krueger said he intends to focus on job creation in the valley through “streamlining the permitting and regulatory processes and promoting and utilizing our natural resources.”

“Government’s role should be to stand behind business, not in front of it,” Krueger said.

Krueger owns and operates a business in the farming, construction, and trucking industries. He has served on the Flathead County Planning Board, the county Board of Adjustments, the West Valley School Board and was a West Valley volunteer firefighter.

The county commission is the governing body of county government. Commissioners are elected to six-year terms. Other candidates who have announced their intent to seek the open commission seat include Terry Kramer and Gerald “Jay” Scott, both Republicans.
