Ski Teams Race to Success at Big Sky Slaloms

The ski teams from Blacktail Mountain and Whitefish Mountain Resort had successful trips to Big Sky Resort recently.

The teams competed in a two-day giant slalom event that featured over 180 Montana racers, ages 6 to 13.

The Blacktail team came away with a handful of top 10 finishes. Jacques Eve placed third 3rd in the J4 race. Sheldon Woldstad came away with third and fourth place trophies in the J3 division events. Camas Rinehart took 7th in J5 competition while Rayce Neill was on his heals, earning 9th and 8th place finishes throughout the two days.

In the competitive girls division, Savannah Metzler took 8th in J5 competition. Fellow team member Morgan Kelly competed strongly both days in the 11 & 12 (J4) age group.

Whitefish had a strong contingent of ski racers, too.

Podium finishes for the Whitefish team included: Gardner Dominick with two 1st place finishes in the 7-8 year old boys group; Marina Kramer with a 3rd place in 7-8 year old girls; Colter Upton with two 3rd place finishes in 9-10 year old boys; and Cameron Welch with a 2nd place in 13-14 year old boys.

Liam Nelson finished with a strong 4th place finish on Sunday in the 9-10 year old boys division. Pixie Moore earned a 9th place finish in the 11-12 year old girls bracket. Other racers competing for Whitefish included James Thompson, Stella Eddy, Walt Hollensteiner, Kristin Van Everen, Caroline LeCompte and Story Crossett.
