The valley’s three fastest high school boys distance runners clearly have not been slacking in offseason training.
Flathead junior Zach Perrin and Glacier junior Troy Fraley placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 3,200 race at this year’s Simplot Games in Pocatello, Idaho.
At last weekend’s competition, dubbed the nation’s premier indoor high school track and field meet, Perrin clocked 9:24.22 in the finals, followed by Fraley, 9:25.56. The winner ran 9:10.
Columbia Falls senior Derrick Williams took fifth in the 800 finals, clocking 1:57.60. The winning time in the finals was 1:49.
Glacier senior Lexy Boschee took 12th in the girls high jump. Boschee cleared 5-foot-4. The winner cleared 5-8.
