COLUMBIA FALLS – Hope Burlage scored 20 points as Columbia Falls handily beat Libby 57-35 in the consolation game of the Northwestern A divisional girls basketball tournament on Saturday.
The Polson boys had eight scorers contribute on offense, but the defense made the difference, limiting Libby to 23 points in a consolation victory on Saturday.
The Wildkats need Polson to beat Frenchtown in Saturday night’s girls championship to earn a challenge game, which would be held Monday.
The Pirates need Columbia Falls to beat Whitefish in the boys title game at 8 p.m. to get a chance at a Monday night challenge game.
Zack Camel scored a team-high 10 points, all in the second half, in the Pirates’ 42-23 victory over Libby. Riley Sampson added eight and Cody Fischer had five. Vince DiGiallonardo, Will Davey and Ian Laimbeer each had four points. Cedrick Smith chipped in three.
Kraig Nelson had a team-high eight points for Libby. Elias Lapka scored six, Jared Winslow had five and Nolan Broden and Josh Foote each had two apiece.
Libby eliminated Frenchtown early Saturday 51-32 to advance to the consolation game. Winslow scored a game-high 22 points.
The Wildkats eliminated Whitefish 48-33 to advance to the third-place game. Haley Belgarde scored 14 points and Burlage added 10 in the victory.
