Kettlehouse to Stop Delivering Microbrews to Kalispell, Other Cities

MISSOULA — The owner of a Missoula-based microbrewery says it will stop delivering products to Helena, Kalispell and Great Falls so it can stay under a state-mandated production limit and still meet demand from customers in Missoula and Bozeman.

Kettlehouse Brewing Co. owner Tim O’Leary on the company’s website says the drawdown starts in March so it can keep its taprooms open.

Montana law limits microbreweries that sell beer on-site to an annual production of 10,000 barrels.

But high demand for the company’s Cold Smoke Scotch Ale has made it difficult for the company to stay below 10,000 barrels and still be able to sell beer in its taprooms.

Silver Star Steak Co. General Manager Jeff Hiel says his Helena customers will be disappointed.
