PLACES: Camas Creek Yarn

By Beacon Staff

Knitters looking for a chance to help a good cause should visit Camas Creek Yarn in downtown Kalispell. The local knitting outfitter has created a one-of-a-kind Rails to Trails Historical Trail “beanie” style knit cap pattern.

Fans of the pedestrian trail system, which follows the old railroad right-of-ways from Somers to Kila, can wear their support with the flashy black, white and red hats. Thirty percent of each knitting kit purchased goes directly to the Kalispell Rails to Trails system.

For sports fans, Camas Creek also sells local high school and collegiate knit kits. From scarves and socks to hats and mittens featuring Boise State University, University of Montana, University of Oregon and Montana State University – to name a few – there is a pattern for everyone.

For those looking to express themselves through a different medium, Camas Creek has branched out into dry and wet felting. The only limit to felting creations is your imagination, but if you need a little inspiration check out the felted hat class with Ruth Lane on March 23. Prior felting experience is helpful but not necessary.

Camas Creek Yarn is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information visit www.camascreekyarn.com.

How to get there: Camas Creek Yarn is located at 338 Main St. in downtown Kalispell.
