Flu Leads to Visitor Restrictions at Hospital

By Beacon Staff

RONAN – St. Luke Community Healthcare in northwestern Montana has temporarily banned children under age 10 from visiting patients or residents due to an influenza B outbreak among 11 school-age children.

The Lake County Health Department tells the Missoulian that the children with flu range in age from 3 to high school.

Officials say bringing flu into an area with new babies or people facing health problems poses a risk.

Hospital officials also say restrictions that started Friday allow only two visitors to see each new mother and baby in an effort to protect newborns.
