PLACES: Sandpiper Art Gallery

By Beacon Staff

The Sandpiper Art Gallery and Gift Shop is a nonprofit art museum owned and operated by volunteers in and around the Polson area. The gallery features the work of local artists and often rotates. The work includes everything from photography to paintings, sculpture and multimedia.

The gallery also has a gift shop and sells the work of local artists. Profits from sales go to the artists and the gallery and what money isn’t spent on keeping the lights on goes toward community workshops, art education scholarships and a resource library. The group’s mission is to spread art throughout the community and educate the public.

This year will prove to be a busy one for the gallery. Currently the gallery is “Kaleidoscope of Color” and features the work of dozens of artists. Beginning on March 27, quilts, raku, fiber art and leatherwork from Judy Colvin, Matt and Heather Holmes, Monique Kleinhans and Jeff Medved will be displayed. The exhibit runs until May and a reception is being held on March 30 from 5 to 7 p.m.

How to get there: Driving through Polson on U.S. Highway 93, turn west on Main Street and go one block. The gallery is at 306 Main Street on the right.
