Executive Orders Should be Abolished

By Beacon Staff

It has become traditional for the president of our country to get around the law making power of Congress be issuing. “Executive Orders.” Why this function has not been challenged by Congress or the Supreme Court is a mystery for me, but it gives powers to the president not provided in our Constitution and should be abolished. Our Congress has degenerated into a body without a real purpose. In our government today, laws for the most part are created not by Congress, but by the president or by lobbyists. Congress merely rubber stamps the laws in a ceremonious fashion. For all the good Congress does anymore, the president may as well declare himself king by executive order and send Congress home.
