Former President Bush to Speak in Billings

By Beacon Staff

BILLINGS — Former President George W. Bush is scheduled to be the keynote speaker next month at a Billings fundraiser.

The Billings Gazette reports that Bush will speak May 11 at the Montana Missions Banquet at the MetraPark Expo Center. The banquet raises money for Provision International, a nonprofit Christian ministry that aids people around the world.

Organization president Lance Lanning says he was told that Bush only accepts a fraction of the thousands of speaking invitations he receives each year.

Lanning says his organization made it through the six-step process somehow.

Bush is expected to speak for a half-hour and then take questions.

About 750 tickets have been sold. They cost $250 each, with a table for eight going for $1,500 and a table for 10 for $2,000.
