A Ronan man was being held in the Lake County jail after leading police on a high-speed ATV chase before crashing into a field and being tased.
Shortly after 2 a.m. on Friday, Lake County authorities responded to a report of a stolen ATV on Carbine Road. Soon after, sheriff deputies and tribal police officers located Leroy Black III driving the stolen vehicle. A 15-minute chase ensued, reaching speeds of 60 miles per hour. Black was injured when he crashed the ATV into a field off Moeise Valley Road, near Round Butte Road. Police tased Black while apprehending him.
Black was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital for injuries sustained during the crash and then brought to the Lake County jail, where he remained on Friday. He is being held on charges of theft, driving under the influence and eluding police. He is being held without bond until his arraignment.
