A missing Kalispell man has been found dead in Lakeside, according to a friend of the victim’s family. Scott Peiffer, 41, was reported missing on Sunday and was last seen driving a red Jeep Wrangler on Hilltop Avenue in Kalispell.
The vehicle was found on Monday afternoon, just north of Lakeside on U.S. Highway 93. Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Jim Schneider was on the scene and said the Jeep had gone off the road, rolled down an embankment and hit a tree. The cause of the wreck was still under investigation.
Kalispell Police Department officer Cory Clarke said an attempt to locate Peiffer was issued early Monday morning, but he was first informed of Peiffer’s disappearance on Sunday. He said law enforcement had been checking family owned property in the area and trying to track his cell phone usage.
