POLSON – A former Polson building inspector has denied a charge that he threatened co-workers after he was fired.
KERR-AM reports 57-year-old Ronald Melvin pleaded not guilty in District Court Wednesday to a charge of threats and improper influence in official and political matters. District Judge C.B. McNeil set an Oct. 29 trial date.
Prosecutors allege Melvin left a telephone message at city hall on May 15 threatening to kill the city manager, attorney and a clerk if the city manager didn’t resign by the end of the week. Melvin had been fired a day earlier.
Melvin pleaded guilty to DUI in Jefferson County on May 1. Court records say he was arrested on April 4 after a Montana Highway Patrol trooper spotted a Polson city truck with two flat tires on the side of Interstate 90.
