Premiere Racing Division Heats Up Memorial Day Action

By Beacon Staff

The Premiere racing division hits the asphalt at Montana Raceway Park this Memorial Day weekend. The Kalispell Toyota Super Late Models, featuring race cars with over 500 hp engines, will kick off a six-race series on Saturday night. The defending champion, Ryan Wells, will try and protect his title. Time trials begin at 6 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m.

A number of drivers will make the long trek to Montana’s only asphalt track this weekend, including David Garber, Braden Havens and Jeff Little from Spokane. Trevor Emond, Tim Elliot, the 1998 Coors Light Montana 200 Champion, and Tim Johnson are part of a Canadian contingency that will compete.

A few familiar local racers are also expected to race in the Black Star/Parrot Bay Memorial Day 100, including Bodie Morton, Billy Salmonsen, Agni Howell, Wrango West, Troy Schweigert, Alex Lessor, Giles Thornton and Corey Wolfe.

The Flathead Beacon Bombers and the Don K Hobby Stocks will be other featured divisions. Two weeks ago, Kelly Dupuis took the checkers in the Flathead Beacon Bomber main event, but failed to go to post race tech. This error allowed Zach Mongan to claim first. Expect to see a tight battle in this division as Dupuis wants to correct his mistake and claim another victory. In the Don K Hobby Stock Division, Ed Linn and Dustin Martel come into the weekend tied for first in points.
