Kalispell Man Arrested for Knife Assault

By Beacon Staff

A Kalispell man will face felony assault charges after a 54-year-old woman was treated for knife wounds at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

According to the Kalispell Police Department, David James Carr, 51, was taken into custody without incident on June 3 after the assault victim said her ex-boyfriend came into her apartment while she slept, held her a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her and kill himself. They had separated a couple of weeks ago, police say.

After about an hour, she was able to convince him to let her go, investigators say, and he left her lower west side Kalispell apartment.

A nurse at KRMC called the police at about 3 a.m. on June 3 to alert them that an assault victim was being treated for knife wounds in the emergency room.

After speaking with the victim, investigators went to her apartment and noted that there was evidence consistent with an assault taking place there. Officers attempted to contact Carr at his apartment, which is in the same complex, but got no answer.

Officers gained entry to his apartment after conferring with the Flathead County Attorney’s Office and found Carr lying on the couch.

Carr is being held for felony assault with a weapon, along with an unrelated warrant. The county attorney’s office will determine additional charges.
