Suspicious Fires Concern Lake County Sheriff

By Beacon Staff

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about a series of suspicious structure and vehicle fires in the Pablo and St. Ignatius area to come forward. Over the past few months, eight reported fires have been ruled suspicious by authorities.

The most recent blaze occurred on Tuesday morning and took out an abandoned cabin east of St. Ignatius. A few days earlier, on June 2, a business in downtown St. Ignatius was also engulfed in flames. Like the previous fires, there were no known causes.

Officials from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the St. Ignatius Police Department, Flathead Tribal Police and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating all of these recent fires as potential arsons. Anyone with information about the cause of the recent fires should call the Lake County Crimestoppers at 883-7309 or 888-883-7309. Callers will remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward.
