Gingrich to Speak at State GOP Convention

By Beacon Staff

HELENA – Montana Republicans say that former presidential candidate Newt Gingrich will speak at their convention in Missoula this weekend.

The state GOP said Monday the former House speaker will address party members on behalf of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney Saturday morning at the Missoula Hilton Garden.

The 68-year-old Gingrich ended his campaign this spring after running out of money and coming under increasing pressure to clear the path for Romney. He won two states during the primary races, including his home state of Georgia.

Montana Republican Party Chairman Will Deschamps says Gingrich’s appearance is an exciting opportunity and the former speaker will help put President Barack Obama out of the White House in November’s election.
