The race for the Republican nomination for the Flathead County Commission seat in District 3 is still up in the air as two candidates still sit within 30 votes of one another.
Gerald “Jay” Scott officially filed for a recount on June 19 in the tight race against fellow GOP candidate Gary Krueger.
The situation stands at Krueger leading with 3,665 votes to Scott’s 3,635, a .19 percent difference.
According to the Flathead County Election Office, the recount will take place Monday, June 25, at 9 a.m.
Five Republican candidates ran for the District 3 seat, currently held by Commissioner Dale Lauman, who is not seeking re-election.
A total of 15,078 votes were cast for this position during the June 5 primary election.
