A Rasmussen poll released this week shows Republican Congressman Denny Rehberg with a two-point lead, 49 to 47, over incumbent Democratic Sen. Jon Tester in Montana’s U.S. Senate race.
Rehberg’s campaign pointed out that eight of the last nine polls conducted in the race have the congressman in the lead. This latest Rasmussen poll, however, shows a much tighter race than a survey the same firm released last month. In May, Rasmussen had Rehberg up 10, which may have simply been an outlier since about every other poll has indicated a much tighter race.
