Kalispell Leaders Plan Graffiti Cleanup

By Beacon Staff

A Kalispell city council member concerned about an abundance of graffiti in town just as the tourist season is starting up is organizing a one-day cleanup effort.

Councilman Phil Guiffrida III on Monday told council members that the problem is getting worse with new buildings tagged in recent weeks.

Guiffrida says he wants to set up the one-day graffiti cleanup in mid-July with volunteers fanning out around the city and then gathering for a barbecue afterward.

He says he’s aiming for high-traffic spots and is working with private property owners, recruiting volunteers and seeking materials.

Kalispell Police Chief Roger Nasset says he thinks the plan is a good idea because residents are fed up with graffiti and are ready to take action.
