Classic Wooden Boats Hit Whitefish Lake

By Beacon Staff

Twenty-five classic wooden boats will be showcased at the marina at the Lodge at Whitefish Lake this weekend for the first annual Whitefish Woody Weekend.

The event begins at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. A public viewing is scheduled for Saturday. On Sunday, classic “Woodies” will cruise Whitefish Lake on a poker run, making stops at local residents’ docks.

This is the first year the Antique and Classic Boat Society is holding the wooden boat event at two locations. Another show is scheduled for August in Lakeside on Flathead Lake. The event is typically only on Flathead and has attracted over 2,000 spectators in the past.

Attendees of the event will vote on their favorite classic wooden boat and enjoy food vendors and live 1920’s era music by “The Stillwater Messengers.”
