Glacier Park Employee Injured on Trail Crew

By Beacon Staff

A Glacier National Park employee was injured on Tuesday afternoon when she fell and slid approximately 200 feet down a snow field and onto the Going-to-the-Sun Road. The 31-year-old female, described in a park press release as a “veteran member of the park’s trail crew,” was working along the popular Highline Trail.

The incident took place at about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday and the victim was airlifted to Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Her condition is currently unknown and she has yet to be identified by the Park Service.

The Highline Trail from Logan Pass to Haystack Butte has been closed due to snow hazards and it is unknown when it will be open to the public. In a press release Tuesday evening, the National Park Service said that deep snow remains in the higher elevations of Glacier and that visitors are encouraged to use caution when in those areas.
