Flathead Brewery Brings Home Hardware

By Beacon Staff

With a popular line of beers already available, it should be difficult for Flathead Lake Brewing Co.’s Tim Jacoby to find the time to come up with more hoppy treats. But he has, and two of his seasonal ales – “Dirty Ginger” and “Montucky Sour Cherry Brown” – have recently taken home some awards.

“Dirty Ginger” is a Belgian strong ale that has a fruity tartness. During Missoula’s 20th Annual Garden City Brewfest the beer was named one of six must-try beers by the Missoula Independent and later that day it was named the “Best Belgian” at the festival.

A few weeks later, “Montucky Sour Cherry Brown” won a bronze medal at the North American Brewer’s Association’s 18th Annual Mountain Brewers Beer Fest in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The Cherry Brown is made with local organic cherry juice and is placed in an oak wine barrel.

Congratulations to all involved and be sure to swing down to Woods Bay this summer to grab a pint. For more information check out www.flatheadlakebrewing.com.
